This is the dream I began
having a month ago.

Formed in 2000 in Muncie, Indiana, Brazil fused post-hardcore energy with high-concept lyricism and cinematic scope. The band quickly made a name for themselves through intense, self-booked tours and early releases on Fearless Records, including the "Dasein" EP (2002) and full-length "A Hostage and the Meaning of Life" (2004).
In 2006, Brazil signed to Immortal Records and released "The Philosophy of Velocity," a maximalist, dystopian/Victorian rock opera co-produced with Dave Fridmann. The sophomore full-length album explored themes of identity, metaphysics, and decay, set against walls of sound and a collection of surreal short stories. Hailed by critics and supported by national tours with Sparta, Minus the Bear, Coheed and Cambria, and mewithoutYou, the album vanished after Immortal's collapse in 2007—its master tapes lost in industry limbo.
Now, 18 years later, Brazil have recovered the original masters and will reissue "The Philosophy of Velocity" on vinyl in late 2025. Long considered a cult classic, the album's return marks the revival of one of the Midwest's most visionary underground bands.
